My husband and I spent the day at Brights Zoo and I am so excited to tell you all about it! As someone who has lived near many cities and been to a few larger zoos, I had no idea what to expect from Brights Zoo, but boy was I blown away! Located near Troyers Market off of 11-E in Limestone, Tennessee, this zoo has something to offer for everyone. From different exotic birds to many species of monkeys and even, my personal favorite, Highland Cows, you are sure to have a fun day with the family at Brights Zoo.
After visiting all the exhibits and seeing what this small town zoo has to offer, I have quickly found some favorite animals. Read below to check out some cute friends we made along the way and see why you have to visit Brights Zoo this summer!
Monkeys
I am personally always amazed by monkeys because they are so smart and amazingly agile. Brights Zoo has many different species of monkeys spread throughout the zoo. You will get to see small monkeys such as the Red Handed Tamarins and some larger fellows such as Gibbons and DeBrazza’s Monkeys. All of the monkeys are distinctly unique and great to observe!
Capybaras
It feels like within the past few years capybaras have peaked in popularity. Considering they are the world’s largest rodent, it’s pretty funny to think of how many people love them. However, once you see them, it’s hard not to fall in love. Brights Zoo has about 10 capybaras who live in various exhibits, but if you go straight back where the goats are, you will see a whole little family living on Capybara Boulevard!
Baby Animals
I don’t know about you, but I love babies! They have many species with young creatures such as capybaras and squirrel monkeys, but most notable is a rare giraffe who is just 2 years old. This giraffe named Kipekee was born without any spots, making him the only known spotless giraffe in the world. Not only is he a complete scientific anomaly, but he is also cute!
Why I loved this zoo so much.
I am a huge animal lover, so of course I am a bit biased when I say this is the best way to spend a nice day! After spending just one day at Brights Zoo, I told my husband we had to become members. Memberships are very reasonably priced and pay for themselves after just a few visits.
In addition to all of the amazing animals, the people are great too! Brights Zoo is family-owned and truly a small business in the zoo world. You’ll be greeted with smiles that will make you even more excited for your zoo day.
So honestly, don’t just take my word, head to Brights Zoo and check it out yourself!
